Meet the judges of the 2016 Kenyan Blog Awards

We currently in the judging phase of the Kenyan Blog Awards 2016. This phase began on February 11th and will end on the 28th. As promised, we have a panel of judges from diverse backgrounds who are sifting through the over 4000 blogs you submitted.

They will decide on the 5 blogs that advance to the next round in all 19 categories. These are the blogs that will be in the running to win a Kenyan Blog Award.

Let’s get to know a little about the team that is tasked with this herculean task.

Mikul Shah is a self-proclaimed foodie and travel enthusiast. He is the CEO of the award winning website EatOut, East Africa’s largest online restaurant discovery platform.

He is also the founder of Yummy Magazine, Nairobi Restaurant Week & the Taste Bar & Restaurant Awards.

He is an active member of Nairobi’s Tech community and plays the role of a mentor, advisor and investor to several businesses. Mikul also sits on the advisory board of Safaricom’s SPARK Innovation Fund.

Ahmed Salim is a passionate marketer and a social media enthusiast with a particular interest in community management and digital marketing.

Mr. Salim is the General Manager of Qube Ltd, a digital marketing agency.

He was named was named Philanthropist of the Year (2011), after coming up with the #FeedKe initiative. He was also among the brains behind the PAMOJA campaign.

Terryanne Chebet is a media personality with over 14 years media experience. She is currently a senior news anchor  at Citizen TV. She reports on news and business stories from across the African Continent, interviewing Heads of State, Global Business leaders, Policy makers & CEO’s.

She is a Moderator, having moderated Key state functions and Business Forums, Emcee, Anchor, Speaker, Poet, Writer, and a ‘Proud Child of Africa’. Ms. Chebet runs a blog, The Lady Maverick, where she gives her commentary on current affairs.

She is also an entrepreneur, interested in tech and what it can do for the continent. Terryanne is the CEO of Scarlet Digital, a 360 Advertising and communications firm that opened in 2011. Scarlet Digital prides itself as a house that understands digital conversations and helps propel brands in the digital space. In 2014, she founded Keyara Organics a line of African natural hair and skin care products.

Muthoni Maingi is a leading African Digital Strategist based in Nairobi, Kenya and currently the Digital Manager overseeing Enterprise and Consumer Business Unit at Safaricom.

She also worked with Airtel Kenya’s digital team. Muthoni is a firm and passionate believer in the power of the internet and the mobile phone to transform lives and provide true points of meaning. Having worked on several projects to spearhead this in Kenya, among them being part of an advisory team on the formation of the Social Media Awards.
